Forgive the silly ass title, but I couldn't help myself. I'm in a kind of goofy mood. I'm so SO happy I'm doing these portraits. I'm learning a TON from them, and I'm whipping em out pretty fast.
I've been using them as a sort of warm up for my freelance work, but I'm beginning to enjoy them more than the work itself!
I'm pretty happy with this image of Instant Miso Soup, here on DA. She has AMAZINGLY wonderful features for painting, and as I painted I found her to be more and more beautiful. She also shares my love of Miso, so that's a few cool points right there. The photos she submitted were perfect examples of what I'm looking for. Inspiring; color, features, pose, expression. Very satisfying.
The thing I've been doing with all of these has been largely messing about with color. Practicing painting on a 'toned canvas' and keying to that color and value. I find this to be a great and fun challenge as a painter, so expect to see some more.

This is so cool I love the textures and colours, creates such a cool mood. You handle shapes so well, too... they have such interesting angles. I love it
