it's funny what we can do, how we can justify...

first time doing somethin' in painter in a LONG time. I forgot HOW much it can look like the real deal. Started as a sketch... then kept going. As per most of my paintings... (this may be one of the very last...) no photo reference. I feel like I've been doing about all I can out of my head... it's time to restore the stocks, and go back to life painting, and working from photos. I feel like my shit is seriously starting to all look the same.

after I was about seventy five percent of the way through I realized that I used the EXACT same color palette as an old painting of mine. Sensation Amputation. I don't know if I even have it posted here, I think it got deleted by the admins. I don't remember. Wacky how that sometimes happens.

So what do you think you're going to move onto from the digital paintings? Conventional ones? Or something else entirely?

I will continue to do both... I am just going to go back to basics and work from life more, or from photos. Things that have been painted out of my head have a certain look...

I remember "Sensation Amputation". The character had... erm... only one appendage, right? I didn't realise it had been removed. How annoying.

This painting reminded me of "Sensation Amputation" but there is nothing wrong with that. I really like that style.
Hey, what brushes and blenders do you favor, in Painter? I just bought it, and haven't had much time to play. Not to mention, I SO dig your style. Wait...I just mentioned it. Hrmm. :slow:
Such a beautiful piece…everything about this is so brilliantly done. Indeed a fav.
this is hella sweet. you have awesome style, i like the brush strokes.

very creative piece, and the color scheme is tight, even if it was repeated.

Looks amazing man. I love the expression on his fave and how it gets even better with the pose.

I love the expression, and the double meaning of the title that goes with it. His expression is intent on something, but it could also refer to just what his intentions are. What he's thinking on.

It made sense in my head.

I also like the colors, even if you did plagiarize them from yourself somehow. Nice bold blues, complemented by the more gentle oranges in the background. It's so much more usual to see it the other way around- warm figure, cool background.
Dude, it looks similar to your other stuff but not that similar. And that's normal man, it's just continuity. Look at any of the great painters and artists - their stuff looks even more of all the same than yours. You just found something that works for you and now you're exploiting it.

And if you're so sick of it, just look around for some new artists and pick on their style and change and develop. Remember life is a learning experience....until you turn senile or DIE!

Love it as always

There is always that danger of resting on one's laurels.

It's always good to see someone who can recognise the dangers of stagnation and who is ready to go back to the drawing board - don't ever lose that!
