This was done a month or two ago, a sort of landscape comp. The concept is a massive raft city comprised of lashed together boats, ships, tankers, junks and whatnot. It isn't fully realized, but i liked the color and the lighting n this one. Enjoy.

Wow, this is beautiful! The warm colors in the sail and in the sky make for a very inviting scene. Since the center of the painting isin the water is makes you feel as if you are on a bridge or in another boat! It is true eye candy for the viewer:rose:

This is one of the best layouts I have seen from you. It's dense but not cluttered. Very lush, even in this not0yet-fully realized form.

Stephenson books amke for great subject material to flesh out.

holy shit you're back. And you bring.. amazing things.
I think I am most enamoured with the clouds in the very background. Very sweet scene.
Excellent...
to my eyes it's fully realised... well there's always some place for more details.
And yea ... the lightning is great.. no ref? Well everything fits. Perspective is workin, color... distance... porportions...
and that beautiful sky. keep on.

so glad you finally posted this
of course it's a fav of mine
Definitely got the look down... I'd have expected some smaller boats in the open spaces, though.

No REASON?
Looks like a fairly effective concept thus far. Pleasing to the optic nerves and whatnot. Also, glad to see you're still alive and whatnot.

The color and lighting ARE great. It really does conjure up Stephenson's wonderful descriptions. My only critcism is that it doesn't feel quite as dirty and claustrophobic as his writing suggests; the scene seems a bit too ideal and saccharin. Good stuff :)
