The Winged Healer is what the natives of the Pri-uan Plateau call this rare and extremely gentle floating giant. It is so difficult to find (despite it's mass) that many believe the stories to be just legends and myths. It is a gas filled cloud grazer. Moving high into the atmosphere it slowly drifts through the sky using massive modified scales as intricate sails. The beast is neutrally buoyant in the atmosphere and requires very little effort to stay afloat, and it can stay aloft in the clouds for weeks at a time on a single full breath. The Native people call it a healer because the animal emits a low barely audible thrum. It purrs in such a frequency that though we can't hear it we can definitely feel it. The sensation is often described as glowing. The vibrations flowing through the human body have an effect of improving overall health, vigor, and vim.

There are some stories of people becoming addicted to the feeling that the animal gives them, and these addicts called "Vapors" follow the beast forgetting to eat, forgetting to drink, and eventually dying in pure bliss. If they lose the giant the Vapors will spend their entire lives mourning in misery, and on the hunt for another glimpse of the graceful animal.

This is a concept design I did for the COW at conceptart.org, I did the design with it being used in print, in mind.

Fantastic creature - cool blend between the realistic surface of the body contrasting with those grandma wings and the pattern overlays. The landscape looks like a german painting from the early 1900's ... Love it!

the drawing part of it, is great as always.. but the textures you've used as wings/fins, I think would have looked much better if you had drawn some shadows/highlight on them.. would have made them fit/fade better into the drawing part and give an overall more finished look (just my thoughts).

We will evade the noon, forget it in rest, pass the midday in slumber, and dream of dawn.

looks really awesome though the wings stand out pretty much as very flat towards the rest of the creature's body. Cool work though!
